Today, more than ever before, the unspoken rules of societal dynamics are at the forefront of my evening mind. Influence and power versus manipulation and control...the difference is the display of emotions and its method of transfer to an audience. An act of self interest, with a positive twist becomes an act of care; in the same manner, an effort to be confident, with a negative twist becomes a demonstration of ego. In the midst of these complex social nuances, there is really no right or wrong way in building influence. Ultimately, holding at the core some of the key values of respect, understanding, care, humility, passion and confidence is the key to influence, and whether this can be achieved is how others view you as you strive to stay true to yourself. And in this way, perhaps there is as much innate trait as there is effortful strategy.
